My Frigidaire Model GLRT13TE Is Not Cooling
- Check the refrigerator power supply first when determining the cause of cooling problems. The plug should be pushed tightly into an electrical outlet, and the fuse or circuit breaker must be reset or replaced if blown after a recent power failure. Do not plug the Frigidaire refrigerator into an extension cord as this cannot fully supply power to a large appliance.
- Look at the temperature control dial on the refrigerator. Turn it past "0" to a cold setting. If the dial is already set past "0," select a higher number for increased cooling. Allow at least 24 hours for the temperature in the refrigerator to reach the new set point temperature. You can speed this process by keeping the refrigerator doors closed as often as possible.
- Other factors may affect the cooling of the refrigerator, such as a recent addition of large amounts of hot food. Placing warm items inside the refrigerator will temporarily increase the internal temperature, which may lead some users to believe the unit is not cooling. Turn the control to a lower temperature if desired while the food cools. In addition, opening the doors often will let warm air in, which can affect cooling. Ensure the door shuts fully each time, and wipe down the door gasket if necessary.
- If the condenser coils on the refrigerator get dirty, frost can build up on the coils and affect the temperature of the unit. Disconnect power to the refrigerator, and remove the access panel on the refrigerator bottom front. Using the brush attachment on a vacuum cleaner, clean the condenser coils thoroughly, and restore the access panel. If ice has built up on the inside of the refrigerator, contact a repair center as the self-defrost system may be malfunctioning.
