You've Decided To Try and Get Pregnant, When Do You Start Changing Your Diet? This is a question that taunts most of us women; "when do I start changing my diet, and how long do I have to keep it up to become pregnant?" First of all, you need to consult your doctor because you can't know for sure what your body is doing, and what its current state is without certain tests.
While your doctor will be able to give you a much more clear and detailed outlook on things, there are changes that you should be making now that will only go to increase the chances of you getting pregnant.
In General you should start changing your eating habits to a more healthy and balanced diet about 4 months before conception, and continue to do so all the way through until your child's birth.
This does not necessarily mean that you cannot become pregnant during these months.
That's simply something you and your doctor need to talk about.
Because every one's situation is different, the time frame might change, or what specifically needs to be done might change as well based on your current condition.
During this period of change however is when you do want to start removing certain foods, and drinks from your daily diet.
Now I know that for most of us this has become such an integral part of daily life that it will make it hard to stop, but if you're really attempting to get pregnant and stay healthy for your unborn child then you'll find a way to do it.
You should start slowly removing all caffeine products from your daily diet such as strong teas, coffee, espresso, chocolate products, sodas, energy drinks, and stuff like caffeine gum and candy.
Smoking no doubt needs to go no questions asked and that even includes second hand smoke as it's even worse for you.
Alcohol is next on the list, and needs to be removed from your life.
This does not mean that you can't go to bars or hang out with friends at a wine club, just make sure that you drink a non-alcoholic and caffeine free beverage.
It's also wise to get rid of artificial sweeteners from your daily diet until after the baby is born, as these could cause negative effects both during conception and actual pregnancy.
Again, it is important that you talk to your doctor about these issues, and if your doctor recommends that you start taking a supplement or that you should make changes to your daily diet to improve your health and overall well being, then you should start making these changes in your life right away without wasting any precious time.
