    • 1). Ask the federal Food and Drug Administration. The FDA has a division set up to help identify drugs. Contact the Division of Drug Information at druginfo@cder.fda.gov or call 1-888-463-6332. Provide a detailed description of the pill you are trying to identify. Color, size and shape are important descriptions to include. Provide any markings on the pill, such as letters or numbers. Also note whether the pill appears to coated or noncoated and if it is scored in half or quarters.

    • 2). Go online to a site such as the Drugs.com website (www.drugs.com/pill_identification.html) and enter the description of the pill. The website requires the user to agree to the terms and conditions of the site before allowing the user to access the database.

    • 3). Take the pill to a local pharmacist. The pharmacist should be able to identify the pill for you and give more information.
