- 1). Send money from Canada to India using Western Union. Western Union will have funds available within minutes to the recipient in India. The sender may send funds in person at an agent location, online or by phone. The recipient must pick up funds from a local agent location. Senders may use a debit or credit card to send funds online, or use cash or a debit or credit card to send money in person. Recipients must have identification and a Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN) to pick up funds. As of of 2010, it cost a fee of 14 CAD to send a total of 200 CAD in person or by phone, or a fee of 18 CAD to send 200 CAD online.

The person opening the account must provide proof of Indian birth, such as a copy of a Indian passport or birth certificate, a copy of a Canadian Permanent Resident Card and proof of current residence, such as a driver's license or utility bill with the application.
