How to Convert Mpg4 to MP3
- 1). Go to Media-Convert.com (see Resources). Media-Convert is a free file conversion website that can convert numerous types of media files, including video, image and sound files. It has the capability to convert Mpg4 to MP3.
- 2). Upload the Mpg4 file that you would like to convert into the Media-Convert converter. To upload, click the "Browse" button next to the "File" box. This will bring up a window allowing you to search for the file on your computer. Once you have located the file, highlight the file name and click "Open" to pull it into the converter.
- 3). Make sure Media-Convert is displaying the correct file type in the "Input format" box. Media-Convert is designed to select the appropriate input format when a file is uploaded, but it occasionally fails to recognize the file type. If it doesn't choose the file type automatically, you can do so manually by selecting "MPEG-4 (.mp4)" from the pull-down list in the "Input format" box.
- 4). Choose MP3 as your output format. The MP3 option appears in the second box next to "Output format" and is listed as "MPEG-1/2 Audio Layer 3 (.mp3)."
- 5). Name the MP3 file. To name a file in Media-Convert, type a name into the box next to "Rename file to," which appears in the "Advanced Settings" section of the converter. If you do not rename the file, it will automatically be given the same name as the original Mpg4 file and only the extension will change.
- 6). Click the blue "OK" button just above the "Advanced Settings" section. This will begin the conversion process. A box will appear in the middle of the Media-Convert screen to monitor the progress. Once the Mpg4 has been converted into an MP3, Media-Convert will automatically direct you to a new screen with a download link. Download the MP3 file to your computer by clicking on the provided link. It will be saved to the "Download" folder on your computer.
