Roundup Dosages
- Poison ivy grows on trees, attaches to walls and even fixes itself to houses. Roundup Poison Ivy & Tough Brush removes poison ivy without the need to dig up the plant by the roots. It is best to apply Roundup for poison ivy during the ivy's growing season and when the weather is above 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray the ivy or difficult shrub until you have saturated its leaves and the base of its stems; the exact dosage varies, depending on the size of the ivy plant.
- Weedkillers and grass killers from Roundup target weeds that have already grown but does not prevent them from coming back. The weedkiller is safe to use in growing gardens and mulch beds but do not spray it during high winds. This causes the weedkiller to touch other plants and possibly harm them. Saturate the top of the weed down to the base of the stem before it enters the soil for best results.
- A Roundup weed and grass preventer not only kills existing weeds but also penetrates to the roots, which ensures they do not grow back. When spraying an entire area, a preventer ensures that new weeds do not grow back for as long as six months. Spray preventers when there is no wind and the temperature is at least 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray at least 10 minutes before watering or rain. According to Scotts.com, the preventer works best on warm, sunny days. Do not spray a weed preventer in grass or garden areas where you want grass, flowers or vegetables to grow. This damages the soil and makes it inhospitable to new plant life.
- Tree stumps left after cutting down a tree are difficult to remove, especially if the root system is well established. Before applying a tree stump killer, cut the tree as close to the ground as possible and make sure the surrounding plant life does not share a root system with the targeted stump. Drill four to five holes in the top of the stump. Pour the Roundup Tree Stump Killer directly into the holes without dilution. For larger, more established trees, you may need to drill additional holes and apply additional product to the stump before it will die. The product may take up to four weeks to show results. After four weeks, reapply the solution if the tree stump is not dead.
