    • 1). Cover the areas in the bathroom you do not wish to spill paint on with drop sheets, which can be any sheet you're not worried about messing up. Mask off the areas not to be painted with painter's tape.

    • 2). Clean off the tile thoroughly with warm, soapy water and use the scrub brushes to remove as much of the grime and dirt as you can. When finished, dry the tile thoroughly with the dish rags.

    • 3). Coat the tile with a primary coat of tile paint primer using the synthetic paint brush. This primer will prepare the tile for painting later. Use long, vertical strokes when applying the primer. Allow the primer to dry for several hours, with the times varying according to manufacturer.

    • 4). Sand the tile thoroughly with the sandpaper and wipe off any particles using dish rags. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 when finished, applying a second coat of primer.

    • 5). Apply the gloss paint over the tile with the natural-bristle brush and allow it to dry for a few hours. Apply a second coat with long, vertical strokes and let dry.

    • 6). Strip off the painter's tape and dispose of it in a garbage bin. Either dispose of the drop sheets or wash them and save them.
