How to Use a Power Washer to Remove a Clog From a Water Pipe
- 1). Screw the sewer jetter attachment into the nozzle of your power washer. Lower the nozzle of the sewer jetter into the drain leading to the clog and push it in 1 foot.
- 2). Pull the trigger of the power washer to activate the sewer jetter. The pressure of the water will pull the hose forward in the pipe. Help the hose move forward by slowly feeding it into the drain.
- 3). Stop pressing the trigger every 2 to 3 feet. Pull the hose backward 1 foot, then press the trigger again to move it forward. This ensures you thoroughly clean the pipe of any other potential clogs.
- 4). Listen for a gurgling or sucking sound. This is the sound you will hear when the pressure of the water from the sewer jetter breaks up a clog in front of it. Move away from the drain when you hear the sound, because there may be splashing.
- 5). Release the trigger and pull out the sewer jetter. Unscrew it from the nozzle of the pressure washer. Use the gentle setting of the pressure washer to rinse off the hose.
