Before the Market America Complaints - Who is this Company?

Market America was founded by JR Ridinger in 1992 and is currently based in Greensboro, North Carolina, and directly employs over 600 people, in addition to having over 200,000 active distributors worldwide. The company sells a large range of personal care, health, and beauty products, with operations in the USA, Canada, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Australia, and the Philippines. Over $3 billion in product sales for Market America have been generated, with over $1 billion paid out in retail commissions.

So make no mistake, despite the numerous Market America complaints online, this is a legitimate company with solid products that have made many distributors a lot of money.

Market America Complaints - What's Behind Them?

So what's going on with all the Market America complaints? Well, inevitably when you have network marketing company of this size with so many distributors, you're bound to have a number of people who "gave it a try" but ran into difficulty growing their business, and ultimately quit.

There can be several reasons for this. For starters, many people unfortunately will join a network marketing opportunity without being fully prepared and committed to build the business. Make no mistake-network marketing is a real business like any other, and requires the same focus, determination, and persistence to achieve success. Compared to other business models, network marketing is extraordinary in that it offers incredible long-term profit potential, but with a very low cost of entry (sometimes as low as a few hundred dollars.)

Unfortunately, that low cost of entry is also one of the drawbacks. Why? Because as "easy" as it is to get into the business, it's just as "easy" not to take it seriously, and to quit. This is one of the big reasons why attrition rates in network marketing can be as high as 97%.

Market American Complaints- What else is going on here?

The other big factor that has surely led to so many Market America complaints, is that people don't understand how to properly market their business.

This is not the company's fault.

Ultimately any network marketing company has only a few important jobs. They produce product and fulfill orders, handle product-related customer service, and ensure that commission are paid to distributors on time. Aside from that, they're there to help ensure new distributors are familiar with the products and can represent the company and products accurately. That's pretty much it.

After that, it is the job of the distributors to know how to market their own business. You need to develop the skills required to succeed in the marketplace. No one is going to hand you a big red "easy" button that just spits money out when you press it.

Now, everyone gets a little help when they first sign up. Most are familiar with this basic training, which is how to spread the word to your friends and family, or your "warm market". Surely alot of the Market America complaints have come from people who tried that and got discouraged when no one was interested.

So why is that method taught? Because its the easiest way to get the greatest number of people started (most of which have no prior sales and marketing experience), and the fastest path to earning a few dollars up front. And in fact, many people actually do very well in their warm market over the first few months. But sooner or later, those contacts dry up. and if you're going to build a serious, long-term business, you need to learn how to generate leads.

Long term success in Market America or any network marketing company means you need have 10 or more people you can talk to every day about your business. And we're not just talking about 10 random strangers on the street. You want targeted, interested prospects, who are already open to starting a home business.
