How to Load Programs on the Acer Aspire One
- 1). Click the "Files" tab on the home page, then select "My Documents." Click "File" followed by "Terminal." The Terminal dialog window will open.
- 2). Type "xfce-setting-show" at the terminal command prompt, then press the "Enter" key. The Xfce Settings window will open. Click the "Desktop" icon from the list in the window. The "Desktop Preferences" dialog window will open.
- 3). Click the "Behavior" tab, then select the check box next to "Show desktop menu on right click." Press the "Enter" key then close all of the open windows. Right-click on the desktop. The pop-up menu will have "Desktop Menu" as one of the choices.
- 4). Click "System" from the pop-up list, then select "Add/Remove Software." Enter the administrator password. If you do not have the password, right-click the desktop, then select "System" from the pop-up menu followed by "Terminal." The Terminal window will open. Type "Sudo -su" at the terminal prompt, then press the "Enter" key. Type "passwd" at the prompt, then press "Enter" again. Type a new password, press "Enter" then retype it when prompted. Close the window. Enter the new password. The Package Manager Window will launch.
- 5). Click the "List" tab, then select the applications you want to install on the Aspire One from the List box. Click the "Apply" button, then follow the prompts from the installation wizard to install the software.
