Mexican Restaurants in Blackwood, New Jersey

This small town in the Delaware Valley is home to just under 5,000 people, a small community college and a single Mexican restaurant. For diners hoping to find their Mexican food fix within the town's boundaries, their options are limited to one option: Taco Bell. Luckily, just a short drive from Blackwood are several other popular Mexican eateries that will make the trip worthwhile. - This Mexican diner is just a 20 minute drive north from Blackwood, located along Maple Avenue in Pennsauken. Owned by amiable chef Mark Smith, Tortilla press features a menu of traditional Mexican cuisine mixed with Tex-Mex and American favorites. Choose from an array of salads, quesadillas, enchiladas, burritos, empanadas or seafood and steak dishes and enjoy your meal in the restaurant's bright, spacious interior. A bar is included so that customers can wash down meals with fresh lime margaritas. Tortilla Press is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Friday (opening at 11:30 a.m.) and opens for dinner only on Saturdays and Sundays (opening at 3:00 p.m.).
- This family-owned and operated restaurant and bar in Lindenwold, just minutes east of Blackwood, serves up traditional Mexican cuisine cooked from time-tested home recipes. Among the area's most authentic restaurants for south-of-the-border flavors, Esperanza features a menu that covers the Mexican favorites from tacos to burritos and fajitas and also offers more distinct house specials like Nopales (cactus) a la Mexicana and Chilaquiles Verdes (fried corn tortillas cooked with green salsa, cheese, sour cream and meat). Their drink list includes Mexican sodas, beers, wines and tequilas. La Esperanza opens Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m., extending until 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
- A short drive to the west of Blackwood in West Berlin, Los Amigos has served Mexican and Southwestern food since 1976. In addition to the usual set of nachos, tacos and burritos you'll find a sophisticated set of classicial, regional, contemporary and Southwestern cuisine prepared by its experienced and decorated chefs, including creative concoctions like Chile Bronzed Salmon and Open Faced Ahi Tuna Enchilada. Enjoy your meal in a charmingly decorated atmosphere that rings of Mexico itself. Aside from the extensive lunch and dinner menus, Los Amigos hosts a Sunday brunch, mixing styles from both sides of the border in such dishes as Santa Fe Style Eggs Benedict and and Southwestern French Toast. Los Amigos opens for dinner from Tuesday through Sunday and brunch on Sunday (10 a.m.-1 p.m).
- The Deptford Mall branch of this Texan restaurant chain is just a few minutes up Highway 42 from Blackwood serving their trademark hearty Tex-Mex meals. You'll find a menu full of fajitas, mesquite-grilled favorites, burritos, chimichangas, carnitas and Texas-style steaks. Tequilas, margaritas, cocktails and Mexican beers are available from built-in bar. The interior decor is loud and fun, prices are reasonable and portions are generally quite large. Don Pablo's opens seven days a week for lunch and dinner.
