Do it Yourself Kitchen Sink
- 1). Set the template form from the manufacturer on the countertop where you intend to install the sink. Set the template back from the front of the counter 1 1/2 inches. Mark around the template with a pencil.
- 2). Drill a 3/- inch diameter hole into the countertop at each corner of the outline.
- 3). Insert a saber saw blade into a corner hole and begin cutting on the inside of the template line. This keeps the hole from being too large. Use a drill and screw to attach a long piece of wood that covers the underside of the cut-out template from front to back. The wood block should be long enough to span the entire cutout. Attach the wood once you've cut out two sides of the template so you do not cut through the piece of wood. The wood prevents the template from snapping off and ruining your counterrop. Remove them once all four sides are cut.
- 4). Attach the faucet to the sink. Slide the faucet and supply lines into the sink hole and attach the locking nuts to hold it in place.
- 5). Place the sink upside down. Place a tube of silicone caulk in a caulking gun and cut off the top. Insert a nail into the tip to get the caulk moving. Press the trigger a few times and apply a bead of caulk around the lip of the sink to create a seal.
- 6). Insert the sink into the hole and press down. Make sure it is straight before the silicone sets. Install the mounting clips to set the sink, referring to the manufacturer's instructions.
- 7). Attach the hot and cold supply line of the faucet to the hot and cold supply lines using the flexible hosing provided with the installation kit.
- 8). Rub a bead of plumber's putty between your hands to make a putty "snake" and place it around the drain hole of the sink. Place the rubber gaskets on the two portions of the drain assembly as instructed on the sink assembly diagram that came with the basin. Place the top portion of the drain assembly, which has the drain basket, into the drain hole and screw it down using a pair of pliers. Attach the bottom portion of the drain assembly to the top from the underside of the sink.
- 9). Attach the trap and drain pipes to your existing plumbing, using a wrench to tighten the locking nuts.
