How to Throw a Dance Party
- 1). Write a guest list of the people you are going to invite. You will need this number when choosing your venue location.
- 2). Pick a venue for your dance party. Look for a place that has plenty of room to dance plus any kitchen or restroom facilities you may need. he facility should have ample space for a dance floor and dance lighting such as a disco ball or floor lights.
- 3). Send invitations to the people on your guest list. Choose or create invitations that will tell guests in a fun way that this party is for dancing. Consider your party's theme when choosing invitations. Some examples would be "Salsa Night" or "Donnie's Disco Party." Ask guests to RSVP so you will know how much food to prepare if you plan to offer snacks. Plan a loose itinerary with some intermissions. This will allow your party-goers to have a chance to talk without shouting over the music.
- 4). Hire a bartender if hosting an adult party. This will keep you from being stuck mixing cocktails all night.
- 5). Purchase decorations that match your party theme. For example, if your party is a disco party, buy plastic disco balls and rotating lights. If your party has a rock-and-roll theme, hang inflatable guitars on the wall.
- 6). Decorate the facility with the decorations you purchased and set up your food tables. Place bowls of dance party trinkets on tables. This should include mini disco ball keychains, funky novelty glasses and glitter stickers for guests to wear.
- 7). Hire a disc jockey to play music at the party. Talk to the DJ about playing specific songs for line dancing or group dancing. Some examples would be the "Electric Slide," "The Hustle" or "The Macarena." Alternatively, you could create your own playlist and burn a party CD to use as your party soundtrack.
- 1). Place the food on the tables along with cups, plates and napkins. Place the CD in the CD player and push the repeat button. You can have continuous music without having to play DJ.
- 2). Display the playlist in a picture frame so guests can plan to share a dance to their favorite songs.
- 3). Offer guests a drink when they arrive and give them a brief tour of your home and facility. Show them where the dance floor is. Introduce the guest to the disc jockey and encourage them to request a dance song.
- 4). Give guests neon or flashing jewelry to wear while they dance. These make nice take-home gifts too.
