    • 1). Restart your computer and press F8 repeatedly as it is booting. The "Windows Advanced Options Menu" appears.

    • 2). Select "Safe Mode with Networking" from the list of options and press "Enter." The Windows operating system loads in Safe Mode with Networking. This mode temporarily disables Bamital-A and other non-essential files while still allowing you to access the Internet.

    • 3). Download one of the many free anti-malware programs available online. Free anti-malware programs include Malwarebytes, Avast! Free Antivirus 6 and Microsoft Security Essentials.

    • 4). Launch the anti-malware program and run a "Full System Scan." Note that the procedure for this varies slightly depending on the program. For example, in Malwarebytes, click the "Scanner" tab at the top of the program, check the box next to "Perform Full Scan" and click "Scan." In Microsoft Security Essentials, click the "Home" tab, check the box next to "Full" and click "Scan."

    • 5). Restart your computer normally and run a second scan using the anti-malware program.
