Conclusions

Due to association with serious underlying conditions, rapid development and potentially serious consequences, pyoderma gangrenosum necessitates prompt and thorough diagnosis, including the search for coexisting disease. If the latter is recognized, therapy should address both pyoderma gangrenosum and its causative factor.
