Simple Tips to Help You Run a Yoga Class Successfully at Your Home
The experience you want to give your students basically depends upon these three factors.
Time: It is crucial what time you choose to give the yoga lessons. Usually, teachers are advised to give yoga lessons during the morning hours, but you should first ensure whether the timing suits your students' schedule, and then decide accordingly.
Space:
Another crucial factor is that you must provide enough space for your students to practice yoga freely without interrupting others' practice. Do a good analysis of the space you have available before deciding how many students to enroll in a session.
Method:
You need to make sure that your students are comfortable with your teaching method. Deciding which method to choose can be difficult, since every student has different needs. Therefore, the best solution is start off with the method that works best for you and then continue to modify it in accordance to your students' needs.
In addition to these factors there are other things which you can work upon to ensure that your students get an ideal environment to practice yoga.
Room Priorities
You can turn any room in your house into a yoga room if
a. it has enough space to allow a bunch of people to practice yoga freely
b. it has good ventilation, and
c. it's furniture can be removed or shifted
Room Equipping
Except for adding a few essential things, you can keep things simple if you think you are not good at decorating things. You can have a music system installed in the yoga room if you and your students like to practice yoga with music. In addition, you can also arrange for a laptop or other devices to show some videos to students that you think will be helpful during the lessons.
Another important thing is that you should provide yoga mats and props in your yoga class. Since these facilities are usually provided at yoga studios and retreats, most students expect to have mats and props available at a yoga class.
In addition, you can also decorate the yoga room with inspiring quotes and pictures of esteemed yogis. Have them pasted at some height so that they do not interrupt practitioners in doing poses that require wall support.
While these factors are important, the most important thing is that your lessons deliver the true message behind the yoga practice. And if things work out well for you, maybe soon enough you will find yourself teaching yoga in India at a yoga retreat in Rishikesh or Dharamshala, or at any other part of the world known for best yoga practices.
