• Bartending is an age-old profession that can be virtually recession-proof and provide you with good additional income. Bartending can allow you to work your regular full-time job without necessarily conflicting with your regular work schedule. This is especially true for individuals who work an afternoon shift at their regular full-time job. These people can go straight from their full-time job to their part-time bartending job before retiring for the evening. Becoming a bartender can require some preparation, especially in establishments that serve cocktails in addition to beer and whiskey. There are bartending schools that can teach you how to do this. You may also have to obtain a food-handling permit and an alcohol distributor's license in order to work. Bartenders can make a decent amount of cash in tips in just a short span of time. Pizza Delivery

• Another part-time job with a number of different perks, including considerable schedule flexibility, is that of pizza delivery. Pizza delivery persons usually work an evening shift and spend a good deal of time in their cars traveling from one location to another to deliver pizzas. People who like working alone may enjoy this type of delivery job where there is minimal interaction with people, except when making a delivery and collecting money. Pizza delivery drivers can make hourly pay, plus tips and reimbursement for mileage, depending upon the company for which they work. • Despite popular opinion to the contrary, newspaper routes are not just for kids with bikes living in suburban neighborhoods. Paper routes in urban areas can prove to be quite lucrative as a part-time job and can allow you to work a second job in addition to a full-time job or career. Most newspapers have to be delivered early in the morning, so you will have to adjust your sleeping schedule to be up very early in the morning. Most paper delivery drivers work as independent contractors and get paid based on the number of papers that are sold on their route. Residential customers typically pay once per month or weekly, while gas stations, grocery stores and other establishments may be billed monthly as well. Delivery drivers who deliver to newspaper-dispensing machines, typically collect the money from the machine themselves and pocket the profits. According to payscale.com, newspaper delivery drivers made between $16,659 and $30,767 per year, as of October 2010.
