    • 1). Raise the hood and remove the negative battery cable from the battery terminal.

    • 2). Locate the drain plug at the bottom of the radiator and place the drain pan directly underneath it. Remove the plug and drain the coolant from the radiator in to the pan.

    • 3). Locate the coolant line which runs from the radiator to the engine. Pull the coolant line from its connector by hand. Use a nut driver to loosen the bolt attached to the drive belt tensioner. Pull the drive belt away from the engine. Remove the intake manifold from the engine.

    • 4). Lay a piece of cardboard on the ground beside the vehicle. Begin removing the mounting bolts from the head gasket with a socket wrench, starting on the far left hand side. As you remove each bolt place it on the cardboard and write a number next to it. This is done because you must reattach the bolts in the exact positions from which you removed them. Lift the old head gasket away from the cylinder.

    • 5). Place the new head gasket on to the cylinder head and secure it with the mounting bolts. Reattach the drive belt onto the drive belt tensioner and secure place by tightening the tensioner bolt. Reattach the intake manifold to the engine. Reinstall the coolant line, connecting it by hand.

    • 6). Remove the radiator cap and pour coolant into the radiator. Reattach the negative cable onto the battery terminal.
