Ideas for Royal Wedding Receptions

    Location and Entrance

    • Book a real castle if possible for the full royal effect. If that isn't possible, use the most upscale hotel ballroom you can. The most majestic place you can find will play the perfect host to your royal wedding reception.

Your entrance should be as grand as possible. Have trumpeters announce your arrival while footmen enter ahead of you spilling buckets full of red rose petals. Come down a cascading staircase or arrive in a horse-drawn carriage. Your Prince Charming should enter beside you showing the utmost respect and manners. For example, if you arrive by a horse-drawn carriage, he should exit the vehicle first and hold your hand to help guide you safely from the carriage. This gesture is both romantic and suggests old fashioned chivalry.

    Decoarations and Favors

    • Elegantly set reception table

Decorations should be sophisticated and grandiose. Drape luxurious fabrics in your wedding colors from the ceilings and tables. Make use of imposing centerpieces including large bouquets of roses, ice sculptures or glass containers displaying numerous floating candles. Rose petals can be sprinkled throughout the tables. Use elegant fabrics such as satin to cover the chairs. Use fancy table linens including cloth napkins and heavily decorated napkin rings.

Offer Cinderella glass slippers as favors, or little glass castles. Double swan favors keep with the royal theme as well. Choose your favorite aspect of your royal wedding and use that as the theme to tie it all together.

    Entertainment and Food

    • Have a harpist or string quartet play soft, classical music during your meal, which should be the fanciest cuisine you can offer with at least five full courses. A bucket of sparkling cider or champagne at every table adds a nice touch. Perhaps servants can serve your guests hors d'oeuvres on silver platters during intermissions or social periods of the reception.

Your cake should be majestic and make use of red rose petals or a crystal cake topper. Use your initials, monogram, a glass slipper, crystal castle or horse-drawn carriage to top off your cake. Real silver serving utensils should adorn the cake table along with real plates.
