It is an enormous country house formerly owned by Richard Hellman, a millionaire of the 1930s. A three- to four-hour drive from New York City, the house overlooks the Esopus Valley in the middle of a forest preserve. The house offers guests a professional-sized pool table, a koi pond, a sauna, and various walking trails around the property. Each spacious guest room features unique decorations, wood paneling, some with cathedral ceilings and mountain views.

www.onteora.com - The Isle au Haut Light is a small secluded island off the coast of Maine and is the perfect getaway for the couple in search of serious seclusion. The island encompasses a lighthouse that was built in 1907; currently the lighthouse interior is closed to the public, though the grounds surrounding the lighthouse are open to the public, and the lighthouse keeper's house is open for rental. Visitors have to take a 40-minute ferry ride from Robinson Point to reach the island. Once there, visitors can hike around the forest area, ride bicycles on the various trails, or ride their bikes down the road to the town where a swimming pod is situated.
