Tax Revenue Is Crack For Big Spenders

Isn't it long past time for the forces on the left to quit agitating for increased taxation for the American taxpayer? What don't they understand about the Republican response that they will not raise taxes in this economy.
Every dollar taken in taxes comes out of the private economy and goes into the vast bureaucracy of the Federal government.
For the Washington Big Spenders tax revenue is like Crack cocaine.
I'm getting tired of the left trotting out Warren Buffett with appeals to raise his taxes, please.
He's starting to sound like the late Henny Youngman.
If he's so excited about paying extra to the IRS he can cut them a check and make it out to the United States Treasury.
We're starting to see other "millionaires and billionaires" push back on this notion of increased taxation.
The former CEO of American Express, Harvey Golub, pointed out that he is handing over 80-90% of his current income to various taxing authorities.
For some strange reason the Democrats see this as a wedge issue for the 2012 election cycle.
Can you see their campaign slogans: "We fought for higher taxes!" or "The Republicans wanted you to pay less!"? Or will they go for the juggler by pointing out they were denied higher taxes by their opponents so that they couldn't spend more money? We don't have a taxing problem.
We have a spending problem.
We're like a leaky rowboat in a hurricane.
We can't bail out the spending fast enough to save the boat from sinking in a sea of red ink.
The various levels of government spend money on everything and anything that they can conceive of in their fertile imaginations.
Spending is an addiction for legislators and bureaucrats.
Do they live in this dimension where we have over 9% unemployment and probably double that when you take into account underemployment? Apparently not, since they continue to propose spending measures.
We spend tens of billions of dollars for various organizations to help students around the world yet we're not funding our own students here.
Instead of cutting all foreign aid to the bone our brilliant legislators were willing to cut things like Pell Grants and student loans.
We currently fund OECD to the tune of $93 million per year.
Now that may not sound like much in the world of billions and trillions but to a student who needs a couple of thousand dollars a year to continue learning it's everything.
The Washington big spenders don't seem to understand that the era of open-handed generosity is over and the era of austerity has begun.
They remind me of the cartoon where the big spender says: "How can I be out of money, I still have checks?".
They see the Federal Reserve as an ATM machine capable of printing all of the money they want to spend.
So where do we go from here? As a people we need to make some fundamental decisions.
Do we want to go down the same path as Greece, Ireland and the other European social democracies? Or do we want to be the America of prosperity and exceptionalism? In the next 14 months we will be able to discuss, argue and decide about the future of this country.
Here's the watchword: Choose wisely.
