How to Reset & Sell a Blackberry Curve
- 1). Create a backup file of the user data on your BlackBerry Curve if you want to keep any of the information stored on it. Start the BlackBerry desktop manager on your computer. (You can download it directly from Research in Motion if you don't already have it. See Resource 1) Connect your BlackBerry Curve to the computer using a USB cable. Click "Backup and Restore" from the desktop manager home page. On the next screen, click "Backup". Follow the screen prompts and wait until the program has completed the backup copy before continuing.
- 2). Remove your SIM card and any media cards that may be present in the device. Using the menu key, navigate to the applications menu and scroll down. When you see the "Options" icon, use the trackball to click it. Under "Options", go to "Security Options".
- 3). Click on "General Settings" and then hit the menu key. Click "Wipe Handheld". You will see a confirmation screen next that warns you that you will be losing all of your application data and message services. Click "Continue". The next screen is another confirmation screen designed to prevent you from doing a hard reset by hitting buttons randomly. Type the word "BlackBerry" and then hit "Enter". Your BlackBerry Curve will restart and reset to factory settings.
- 4). Find a buyer for your BlackBerry Curve. Ask your family and friends if they know anyone who wants to buy a new phone. Craigslist, eBay and your local newspaper classified ads are all great places to find a buyer. Craigslist doesn't normally charge to post a sales ad but your local newspaper and eBay both do.
- 5). Gather your BlackBerry and all the accessories you are including in the sale. Depending on your agreement with the buyer, you may have to ship the phone or bring it to them in person.
