Trim at least 1 inch off the stems of each flower. Cut the flowers at an angle. A newly cut flower can drink in the water and bleach and sugar solution, keeping it fresher longer.

    • 3). Hold the flowers at arms-length and spray them lightly with hair spray. The hair spray helps preserve the flowers and keep the color fresh. Place the flowers in your vase.

    • 4). Change the water in the vase after two or three days. Add fresh bleach and sugar. Cut 1 inch off the stems again before putting the flowers back in the vase.
