Information on Compaq Deskpro Computers
- All Deskpro models contained either an Intel Celeron, a Pentium 3 or a Pentium 4 processor, though the speed ratings varied. They featured PCI slots and basic models cost between $500 and $800.
- The Deskpro series came in five physical case models in two general shapes; towers and desktops. Desktops lay flat across a work surface with a monitor placed on top of them. Towers sat vertically separate from the monitor. The towers came in two varieties, the Minitower and the smaller Microtower. From largest to smallest the three desktop models were the Slim Desktop, Desktop, and Small Form Factor.
- The EN series of Deskpro computers advertised longer-than-average life cycles, using Compaq's "lifecycle optimized" technology. Processor options ran from 733 megahertz to one gigahertz. Basic EN models cost at least $700 and were available in Minitower, Slim Desktop, and Small Form Factor models.
- The EX models stressed performance for their price range, which ranged from $500 to around $700 for basic models. Available in Minitower, Microtower and Desktop cases, the EX also featured processors running from 667 megahertz to 1.4 gigahertz. The EX series included the least expensive Deskpro option, a Microtower starting at $499.
- Unlike the other Deskpro models, the EXS series came with business software installed. The two models gave the EXS series a processor speed range of 800 megahertz to 1.4 gigahertz and came in Minitower and Desktop options. Both basic EXS models cost just more than $700.
