Schwinn Airdyne Bike -- How Long Will It Last
Schwinn Airdyne bike means fitness at home. Twenty years is a long time to use the same piece of exercise equipment. That's exactly what's happened with my one and only Air dyne and it was used when I got it. Here's why it works for me and many others. Here are reasons too why you likely will need only one and why Schwinn likely gets few repeat sales on these.
First of all, it's a simple durable piece of equipment. It's not complicated at all. It's a big heavy steel frame with a big, wide comfortable seat. You just sit here and pedal with your legs and pump with your arms. The pedaling and pumping turns a big old fan. The faster you pedal and pump, the heavier is the resistance and thus the stiffer the workout.
The bike is built heavy to stand up to the hardest work you can do. You will quit before the bike does. Because it's heavy, it's stable so there's little swaying or rocking. Lesser bikes that move around usually self-destruct. Not so this thing. It just sits there and takes your best effort. Any rocking and rolling of an exercise bike as you use it likely results in a bike that just gets looser as time goes on. Once a bike starts to loosen as it sways and rocks, then the bike just progresses down the path to self-destruction and becomes in time a large or small pile of junk. But there's more...
Here's another feature. Since it's a dual action machine working both your upper and lower body, it's a better workout. The best way to burn fat is to build muscle. This is one of the most basic ways to burn calories and build muscle at the same time. That's the way to turn yourself into a fat burning machine. By mixing muscle building with cardio-vascular exercise the result is a rise in the basal metabolism. That means calorie burning even at rest increases so that the fat burn continues at all time. That really is the key to long-term weight loss and control of weight over time.
Airdyne bikes lack the sophisticated electronics of other more modern designs. Of course the beauty of stationary bikes with computer power is the programming that can make it possible to pedal to simulated real world conditions, that way you fight boredom with computer power. The dual action bikes add more activity as a substitute for more electrical gadgets that are prone to break and fail. The Air-Dyne makes up for that lack of computers with rugged construction and a superior design. It's hard to find another exercise machine with a better design for fat burning. It's also hard to find another machine that will last and last like these things do.
The Schwinn AirDyne bike that I use has been trouble free and one of the best machines I've used. It's a great workout machine that's easy to use and easy to own. Maybe mine will last for another twenty years. It may outlast me...
