What is the Minimum Wage for Cleveland and Ohio Workers?
There isn't one set answer to this question. However, for most Ohio workers, the answer is $7.95 per hour (effective 1-1-14.) This rate applies to non-tipped employees who work for a business that grosses at least $292,00 per year.
Ohio is one of 10 states that approved legislation in 2006 to automatically adjust the minimum wage of most non-tipped workers for inflation. The above amount reflects the change for this year.
To summarize:
- $7.95/hour -- minimum wage for non-tipped workers over 15 years old of companies that gross more than $292,000/year.
- $7.25/hour -- minimum wage for 14 and 15-year-old workers and those who work for companies that gross less than $292,000/year. This is also the federal minimum wage level.
- $3.98/hour -- minimum wage for tipped employees (those who make more than $30 per month in tips.)
