How to Detect a Leak in a Vinyl Pool
- 1). Make sure you are the only one in the pool while checking for leaks. Splashing and movement will only distract you and cause the water to ripple while you try to look for a calm, slow leak.
- 2). Put your goggles on, and swim under water along the bottom of the pool. Graze the liner with your fingertips to see if you feel a rip in the liner or suction against your finger pulling the water out of the pool.
- 3). Do the eye dropper water leak test. Squeeze the rubber end of the dropper before placing it in the food coloring. Place the open tip in the bottle, release the rubber end, and fill the dropper with coloring.
- 4). Squeeze three drops into the area of the pool where you think you may have found a leak. If you haven't found one, do the dropper test in several different areas of the pool, going underwater after adding drops to each spot, and watching to see if the colored water flows towards a leak.
