    • 1). Turn off the router and unplug it. Release the height adjustment clamp and twist the router up and out of the base. Set it in a safe place. Turn the base bottom side up and remove the screws in the plate with a screwdriver. There are three evenly spaced screws.

    • 2). Select a router table base plate with a hole pattern that fits your router. Most router tables come with a selection, or will have several holes bored at various spacings for different router configurations. Position the table plate on the router and align the screw holes. Reinstall the base plate mounting screws, tightening them with a screwdriver.

    • 3). Fit the router back into its base and adjust the height by turning its height adjuster knob. Measure the bit depth from the face of the table base plate. Latch the buckle on the height adjustment clamp and lower the router upside-down into the table so that the table plate rests in the indention made for it in the center of the table.

    • 4). Turn off the power to the table control box and plug the router into the outlet on the control box. This is a speed and power control that is typically mounted just under the table edge to avoid the need to reach for the router controls under the center of the table. Turn the power to the router on.

    • 5). Restore power to the control box and operate its buttons and knobs to run the router. If the table has a speed control, twist the knob to adjust the router's rpm to the desired level. Turn the power off and unplug the router before adjusting height or removing the router to replace bits.
