Take this into account when you think about how much water you need and the type of food you are eating.

Why you need plenty of water When you workout your body temperature will rise, you muscles will need water to stay cool and perform at 100%.
If your muscles are dehydrated your performance will decrease, along with your results and your motivation.
To keep cool your body will sweat during your workouts.
You will need to replace the water lost through perspiration, otherwise you might stop sweating and your body will heat up too much.
Not having enough water could cause you to faint, especially when doing something intense as lifting heavy weights.

To make sure you get enough water throughout the day you should: • Drink 500ml upon waking up.
When you get up from sleeping, your body will be dehydrated and needs re-hydrating.
• Drink at least 1 cup before working out.
• Drink half a cup every 10 minutes during you workout.
Or take a gulp after you complete each set.
• Drink a cup or two upon finishing you workout.
• Drink a cup between meals.
Depending on your gender, activity and weight you will have different requirement on the amount of water your need to consume each day.
Take the above points into consideration.
A great water to know whether you are drinking enough is by the colour and frequency of your toilet visits.
If you are going about every hour or so then that is a good sign you are drinking enough.
If you are having to go more often than every hour you are probably drinking too much.
The colour should be pale or clear.
