How to Change a Living Will

104 21
    • 1). Create a new living will. You can purchase living will forms and fill them out yourself, use an online service or use an attorney to draw them up for you. Make sure to sign and date the forms. Depending on your local law, you may be able to make changes to the existing will as long as you sign and date the changes and have a witness.

    • 2). Get a witness. You will need someone to witness your signature on your living will. They will also sign your forms. Should your living will be contested, this person will be able to state that you were of sound mind when it was created and that you were not coerced in any way.

    • 3). Destroy the old will. To avoid confusion during an emergency, destroy old copies of your living will. You should only have the most current version available.
