How to Host a Candy Land Theme Party
- 1). Type the information for the time, date and location of the Candy Land party and arrange it so all the information fits onto a quarter of a page. Print out one for each guest, and cut them down so the information is about 3 by 3 inches. Glue these invites onto large lollipops. Use two separate pieces of paper and glue one to the front and one to the back if you can't fit all the information on one side.
- 2). Cut construction paper strips about 1 inch wide and 12 inches long out of many different colors of paper. Make adjoining circles and glue them together into long chains to hang and drape around the party venue. Set out vases partially full of hard candies and stick the rest of the lollipops into them to make candy bouquet decorations.
- 3). Spread a white tablecloth over a small table or just spread it on the floor. Make a sign that designates the area "Snowflake Lake," and set out scissors with a stack of white paper for older kids to make snowflakes. If the guests are very young, lay out some packing peanuts and paper snowflakes for them to use to pretend they are in the snow. Create the chocolate swamp by hanging a brown sheet or tablecloth over an armchair to be the character Gloppy. Tape construction paper eyes to Gloppy and make a Chocolate Swamp sign.
- 4). Set up a station in the kitchen for guests to decorate their own dessert. Have gingerbread man cookies, icing, hard candies and sprinkles ready for them to use. Instead of gingerbread men, you could also let kids decorate cupcakes or scoop out ice cream and let them add toppings.
- 5). Have the Candy Land game board set up in the party room so guests can play if they wish. For another Candy Land activity, gather dress up clothes and linens in bright colors, put them in a laundry basket in one corner so kids can dress up and pretend to be their favorite Candy Land characters. Or print out color images of the Candy Land board on regular paper and glue them onto pieces of card stock or heavy paper. Then cut them up to make your own Candy Land puzzles for kids to solve.
