The Golden Retriever is a beautiful, sturdy, well-proportioned dog with a feathered, medium-length, cream to golden-colored coat.
Golden Retrievers are very lovable, well-mannered, intelligent dogs with a great charm.
Training them is easy and they are patient and gentle with children.
While unlikely to attack, Golden Retrievers make good watchdogs, loudly signaling a stranger's approach.
This breed love to be around people and if isolated from human contact, or left alone for long periods of time, the Golden Retriever may become mischievous.
They can be over-exuberant and distractible.
This distraction can lead the Golden puppies to start digging or biting.
The behavior of biting is especially prominent when the Golden Retriever is in the teething process- when new teeth begin to form in the puppy's mouth.
This problem can be handled properly by using a plethora of methods.
It is advisable to the owner of the Golden puppy to use a variety of these methods in order to get your puppy to behave properly.
Golden puppies biting during the teething process because it lessens the pain they feel.
There are many chew toys that you use to let your dog chew on.
These toys are safe and fun for the puppy.
Alternatively, you can fill up and old but clean sock with ice cubes and placing it inside the freezer.
Tie a knot at the end of the sock and give it to your pup to chew on.
It is important to keep and eye on your pup if he uses a sock as a chew toy because bits of sock can be swallowed unknowingly.
Also, because puppies bite on anything they can get their teeth on, they might end up biting small dangerous objects that could end up getting stuck in their throat.
This could lead to suffocation and death.
To avoid this, canine experts recommend the puppy be kept in a crate when you are not around to supervise him.
Keeping him in a crate will also help in potty training your puppy and it provides a safe environment for your Golden pup when you are not around.
When your pup is kept in a crate, make sure sufficient water and food is kept in the crate for the pup.
It is also advisable to not keep your pup in the crate for a long time as Golden pup's crave for their owners attention.
The less attention it receives, the more agitated the puppy becomes and it can lead to the puppy barking consistently.
Another tip is to bulk up supplies of your puppy's favorite chew toys.
Because the pup chews a lot, the toys can wear out and tear.
This can pose a hazard to the puppy as small bits can be swallowed so keep a supply of it and the next time your pooch chews on something inappropriate, give him the toy.
The next good tip is by freezing rubber teething rings - these rubber teething rings can help lessen the pain of cutting teeth if your puppy is crated.
