    • 1). Route the wires for the remote power adapter from the desired mounting or storage location to the fuse panel. Find the fuse panel under the dash on the driver's side.

    • 2). Strip both wires from the adapter 1/4 inch from its end with the wire strippers. Grip the wire with the strippers and pull the wire out of the strippers to remove the plastic coating. Twist the ends of both wires.

    • 3). Connect the fuse holder to the positive lead using the butt splice. Insert one end of the fuse holder and the positive lead into opposite ends of the butt splice and crimp the splice firmly. Tug both wires lightly to ensure a secure connection.

    • 4). Insert the other lead of the fuse holder into the yellow spade connector and crimp it firmly with the crimp tool. Tug on the wire to ensure a positive crimp. Repeat this process with the negative, or ground wire and the ring terminal.

    • 5). Locate a point that provides a good ground you can reach with the drill and brush it clean of paint. Put the screw into the ring terminal and drill it into the sheet metal in the paint-free spot. Brush this spot with rust-preventative paint. If there is already a ground wire close enough to reach and grounded using a screw, remove and reattach it with the drill after putting the screw through the ring terminal. The frame is the best place to use for ground, but is difficult to reach from inside the passenger compartment. A clear section of the bulkhead works fine.

    • 6). Plug the spade connector into an available spot on the fuse block labeled "Batt." Insert the proper fuse for the devices needing power. If powering nothing larger than a phone and media player, the fuse should be no more than 10 to 15 amps. Larger amperage or an increased number of devices requires a larger fuse.
