How to Paint Whitewashed Kitchen Cabinets Dark Brown
- 1). Remove the drawers from your cabinets. Unscrew and remove the cabinet doors, taking off the hinges. Remove any drawer pulls and knobs.
- 2). Sand the cabinet frame, drawer fronts and drawers to remove old finish. Dust away residue with a clean rag.
- 3). Start with the inside of the cabinets, using a mini paint roller to apply brown paint to the back of the cabinets, sides, tops and bottoms of shelves, and the edges and corners. Paint in smooth strokes, rolling in the same direction.
- 4). Brush brown paint on the drawer fronts, using a 1-inch paintbrush, and starting with the back edge. Be careful not to get paint on the sides or inside of the drawers.
- 5). Roll paint on with a regular size paint roller to cover the cabinet doors, cabinet sides, and any removable shelves thoroughly. Paint the edges first, then the broad surface, using even strokes all going in the same direction.
- 6). Paint the cabinet frame with a 1-inch brush. Start with the inside edges of the frame, then the outer frame face. Let paint dry overnight.
- 7). Replace hinges, drawer pulls and knobs with new hardware, chosen to complement your kitchen style.
- 8). Reattach cabinet doors to the frame, and return drawers to their proper positions.
