Aloe Vera belongs to the family of herbs called Aloeceae.
It is a plant that grows in all seasons and has rosettes of thick, fleshy, thorny greenish grey leaves and it bears a yellow tubular flower during the summer season.
The gel or the slimy juice inside the leaves and the juice that is extracted from the inside of the leaves are what are used for all sorts of purposes.
The gel is what is found naturally by removing the outer layer of the thick juicy leaf.
When the gel is processed and all the water dried out you get the Aloe Vera concentrate.
The Aloe Vera Juice is a drink that people use internally and is said to contain at least 50% of the pulpy aloe gel.
This herb contains a whole lot of compounds that are active biologically and consists of anthraquinones, saccharides and prostaglandins not to mention many other components.
The anthraquinones that aloe contains has the qualities of a laxative on the digestive system thereby making this wonder herb a laxative too.
Aloe contains different types of saccharides like glucoprotein and polysaccharides like galactose,, xylose, and the wonderful Acemannan.
Other than these major components, Aloe also contains enzymes, amino acids, vitamins, minerals, and many other compounds like cholesterol, triglycerides, steroids, uric acid, and many more.
The enzymes in the aloe like carboxypeptidase and bradykininase both help in reducing swelling, inflammation and pain.
When taken internally this herb fights the most common as well as the most complicated digestive problems such as constipation, lack of appetite, colitis, IBS, not to mention that it also helps asthma patients, diabetics, improves the immune system and various types of ulcers.
Researches have revealed that when taken in Aloe can arouse and manage the different components in the immune system by preventing the onset of inflammation and furnish of blood to tumors and also in inhibiting carcinogenic constituents from getting into the liver.
