Mom's special day will be here on Sunday May 12, that isn't too far away, so it is time to make your plans. A float trip on the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon is the perfect getaway but you need to get your seats early since they are so popular and passengers are limited to 19 per raft. You have several options when it comes to raft tours, but no matter what package you choose, your mom is sure to love it.

About Float Tours

Float tours of the Grand Canyon stay on smooth water. You don't have to worry about dangerous rapids so the trips are suitable for kids over four years of age and senior citizens too. It is a fun-filled day of excitement for everyone in your family.

Float trips depart from Tusayan, Arizona (just outside the National Park's main gates) and Las Vegas, Nevada. They last all day and start around 6 or 7 in the morning, even on holidays. It is a lot of fun, but you will probably be worn out when it is over. It is best not to make any plans for later in the evening.

Raft Trips From Las Vegas

When you depart from Vegas on a float trip, you get to ride a chopper down to the floor of the canyon at the West Rim in an exciting adventure. It's exhilarating to fly 4,000 feet down to the canyon floor, and you can explore the area on foot once your chopper lands.

Next, you will board a tour bus and head for the Hoover Dam. It is an amazing site to stand at the foot of the dam and behold its massive 700 foot height towering above you.

Hoover Dam is where you board the raft for a float tour that takes you to Willow Beach, AZ, 11 miles away. As you're passing through the majestic canyons, you'll catch glimpses of the area's plentiful wildlife. Be sure to wear a swimsuit because the raft will make stops so you can swim. Lunch is provided for all tour participants.

Raft Tours In Arizona

There are a couple of rafting trips you can take if you want to start in Arizona. The basic float tour involves taking a 2- hour ride by bus to Page, Arizona where the Glen Canyon Dam is located. Before you begin your trip, your river guide briefs you on what you can expect to happen as you float the 15 mile stretch of the river. The trip ends at historic Lee's Ferry.

You can upgrade your float trip by flying into Page rather than taking a bus. When you get to Page, you take a very fun 4x4 Jeep tour of Antelope Canyon that allows you to see some truly magnificent sights. When you return, you'll begin the rafting portion of the tour.

You And Your Mom Will Really Love It!

You will see inspiring scenery during your gentle float trip through the canyon, it is the perfect way to show your mom you are thinking of her on her special day. The price is all inclusive and includes lunch, water, tour guide, required gear, and free hotel pickup and return with the bus option.

If you plan to take your mom on a float tour of the Grand Canyon for her holiday, then be sure to book your seats as early as possible. Last year these trips sold out. So, buy your tickets early and buy them online to get a nice discount. The discount will save you enough money to buy your mom a special treat!
