The Bottom Line
My Mom's a Mortician is the first of a new series, the Kevin Kirk Chronicles, by Patricia Wiles. The story is about a young boy, Kevin of course, who has many struggles when his parents move the family to a small town to take over the local funeral home. Some of his trials include making new friends, dealing with bullies, and having to share a house with dead bodies. With a little help from an elderly gentleman, who happens to be a deceased "Mormon", Kevin makes it through his troubles.

Guide Review - My Mom's a Mortician - LDS Book Review
Patricia Wiles is a very talented writer with a lot of experience and it shows. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and couldn't put it down. It was gripping, interesting, humorous, and even sad at parts. I loved the main character, story, surprises, and witty remarks.
This book is perfect for children, youth, and even adults. The only reason I gave it 4 1/2 stars instead of 5 was because I thought one or two things weren't 100% accurate from an LDS point of view, at least in my mind. Besides those VERY SMALL details I greatly enjoyed this book. One of the things I liked best about it was that some of the main conflicts and interesting parts of the story weren't resolved, although they will obviously be continued in the next Kevin Kirk Chronicles. I really look forward to reading the rest of this fabulous series and highly recommend it!
