FedEx Donates A Ex-service Boeing 727 Cargo Plane to CAUC
Today, FedEx Corp. donates a ex-service Boeing 727-200 cargo plane to Civil Aviation University of China(CAUC), creating a best operating training place for the students in this university.
In the hail of the people from CAUC, airport and FedEx Corp., this cargo plane lands on Tianjin Binhai international airport. The Boeing 727-200 cargo plane whose last number is N219FE has served in FedEx for 25 years, sending parcels to the places around the world for the company.
According to the tradition of FedEx Corp., all of the cargo planes are named after the Children of their employees. This cargo plane's name is Jakob, which is name of the son of Rodger Finley. Rodger Finley has been a operation manager for 30 years until he retired recently. Cargo plane "Jakob" will get a new lease of life in CAUC, because it will be used to train the future airplane major talents. The students will serve in flights China after graduation.
The donation to CAUC is a part of retiring program for FedEx 727-200 cargo plane team. From 2000, FedEx has donated 40 model 727 cargo planes to all kind of aviation technology colleges, museum and other organizations worldwide. These planes will help to educate and train the next generation aviation major talents. This donation is also FedEx's first donating item to China.
Chen Jialiang,CEO of FedEx China, says, "We are very honoured to donate this plane to CAUC. FedEx has cooperated with CAUC for many years. From 2006, we set up FedEx scholarship and training & practicing plan, which provides scholarship and the chances of summer practice. At the same time, the company also employed many excellent graduates and is satisfied with their jobs. We heartily hope this plane will benefit to lift the teaching level of CAUC and help the students to make progress and grow, because they are the future of our aviation industry.
In the donating ceremony, Wu Dongshui, the president of CAUC, says, "Thanks to FedEx for its generous donation. It provides the chance of practicing and training in a real plane to our students. The practice in real plane provides a engineering environment of feeling, knowing well and mastering civil plane and its main equipment in zero distance to the students.
