Children - Target of Juvenile Offenders
Young adults who were troubled or angry or under the influence of drugs and alcohol were often found to be guilty of the molestation of children.
They may also be those who were victimized when they were young and are suffering psychological trauma hereby re-enacting what has happened to them before.
These juvenile offenders vary when it comes to ages ranging from 12 to 19 years of age and come in both genders.
Males are the dominant among the 2 sexes, although females have an equal number of victims compared to males.
Most of the cases with females were because the perpetrators were baby-sitters.
These types of offenders have a higher number of male victims.
Forty percent are siblings and close or distant relatives.
They show lack of self-esteem, social competence and show signs of depression.
Nobody really knows what goes on in the minds of these kinds of sex offenders, but hypotheses are that sexual activity generates pleasure for them.
They may also be offensive because of emotional problems resulting to angst relating to desire to inflict pain or hurt others.
They may also be bored and lonely, and there can be certain sexual fantasies that they feel the need to fulfill.
These reasons propel the adolescent to the path of offense, because they have a number of beliefs and thoughts that, to them justifies what they do.
Adolescent sex offenders who target children often use verbal coercion rather than violence to coax their victims into complying.
They can be aggressive and violent, but most often result to trickery and bribe.
Some use threatening of loss of relationship.
Offenders can be anywhere, even right in your own backyard.
It's true that they may have restraining orders to keep away from children, but you never really know.
You must also watch out for the potential offenders or those who are already in your neighborhood, just in case you may need a baby-sitter or decide to leave your kids at home.
