Open Microsoft Publisher. Open the Greeting Cards file folder in the opening window. Click on "Birthday" among the links of card types at the top of the page. Select a birthday card template you like. - 2). Add design elements to the birthday card template using the task pane on the left side of the window. Page Options allows you to add images. Add an image by opening "Insert:" at the top of the window and selecting "Picture." You can add images from a variety of sources, such as from files, your digital camera or from Word Art.

Create each page of your card by selecting the small numbers near the left on the bottom of the window. Select Color Schemes beneath Page Options to change colors. Move on to Font Schemes to use a font that fits your design. Greeting card options allows you to set the size and fold of your card. - 4

Insert the birthday greeting you like. Publisher offers canned birthday greetings. You may also search for poetic greetings online or write your own. Enter the content by double clicking on the greeting area on each page of your card. - 5

Save your work by opening File at the left-top of the window. Select "Save As" instead of "Save." "Save As" allows you to save your card as an earlier Publisher version, which will help the recipient open and read your email attachment. Save to an easy place to find it, such as your Desktop. - 6). Send your personalized birthday card by email. Open the card. Go to "File" in the upper left hand corner of the page. Scroll down to "Send Email." Select "Send Publication as Attachment."
