How do I Feed Whole Wheat Bread to Ducks in Snowy Weather?
- 1). Put on water-resistant clothing designed for cold temperatures. Wear a hat, boots and gloves designed for snowy weather.
- 2). Shovel away any deep snow that will make it difficult for the ducks to waddle around. Lay down a piece of old carpet that will provide enough dry surface area for the all of the ducks to stand on while feeding.
- 3). Provide the ducks with a source of clean drinking water so they can dip their bills while consuming the bread.
- 4). Break up the bread into half-inch size pieces. Place the bread in a clean container that will keep the food off the snowy ground, but make the bread easily accessible to the birds. Feed only as much as the ducks can eat within a few minutes. Toss a few pieces of bread in the ducks' direction to get them interested in the container of bread.
- 5). Watch as the ducks eat the bread, to ensure that each bird receives a fair share.
- 6). Remove the bread container and any uneaten bread from the duck pen when the ducks have finished. Place a lid on the container and store it for later feedings. Remove the carpet from the pen.
