Weight Loss Hypnosis Is Not a Magic Wand

Weight gain is caused by multiple factors. When looking for the causes, you will have to address emotional issues, the manner in which you respond to stress by comfort eating, food selection and sedentary lifestyle. All three of these factors contribute to the accumulation of extra weight.

Many people are overweight because of the manner in which they cope with stress. Emotional eating is one of the main factors contributing to a person's inability to maintain the ideal weight.

There are many strategies for coping with problems and hypnotherapy is one of the possibilities.

Some Figures about Obesity

According to the Health and Social Care Information Centre, only 34 percent of the men and 39 percent of the women had a healthy body mass index (BMI) in 2011. The ideal BMI is defined as a figure ranging between 18.5 and 25.

There are some other troubling figures, as presented by the National Health Service:

- 24 percent of men in the UK were obese in 2011. In comparison, the obesity figure in 1993 was 13 percent.

- When it comes to women, 26 percent were obese in 2011, compared to 16 percent in 1993.

- Of all children aged 4 to 5, 9.5 percent were obese.

- Nearly 53 percent of the overweight men and 44 percent of the women had high blood pressure in 2011.

- The number of hospital admissions due to medical issues related to obesity reached 11,736.

Emotional Issues

Many people think that they can just go on a diet and the extra weight will disappear. Commonly, diets fail due to emotional eating and other psychological issues that have to be addressed first for a successful outcome.

According to experts, most of the people that are overweight are trying to cope with some emotional problem. Stress, financial difficulties, relationship issues and lack of proper sleep can all be contributing factors.

Losing weight starts with changing your perceptions and feelings about yourself. This is where hypnosis can help a lot. Hypnosis, however, can in no way be considered a magic wand. A conscious effort will be required to bring change into your life.

Choosing the Right Diet

Coping with emotional issues is the first step. Making smart food choices are just as important.

There is absolutely no need to starve yourself. Fad diets are inefficient. There should be general changes in your patterns of eating and in the foods you consume. Healthy snacks will help you control cravings and lose weight.

Certain foods need to be avoided by all people, regardless of weight loss efforts. Hydrogenated fats, large quantities of salt, refined sugars and artificial sweeteners should all be avoided.

Be More Active

Sedentary lifestyle is a big problem for many people that work in an office and come back home feeling exceptionally tired. Still, there are ways to keep active without having to go to the gym on a daily basis.

Quick walks, biking in the park with your children and climbing the stairs instead of taking the elevator are all changes in the right direction.

You have to be passionate about losing weight and you should be doing it for yourself. Determination and visualization will help you get there. Using professional assistance like hypnotherapy is also going to make the process easier.
