How to Change From Chlorine to Baquacil

    • 1). Take a pool water sample to a local pool chemical specialist and balance the pH and alkalinity with conventional chemicals.

    • 2). Replace or clean cartridge filters or DE filters with Baquacil D.D. and Cartridge Filter Cleaner. Clean a sand filtration system with Baquacil Sand Filter Cleaner or replace the sand.

    • 3). Remove chlorine or bromine dispensers.

    • 4). Check free chlorine or bromine level. Add 5 oz. of Baquacil Chlroine Neutralizer for every 2 ppm of free chlorine or 4.5 ppm of bromine for each 10,000 gallons of pool water.

    • 5). Add 1 gallon of Baquacil Oxydiser for each 10,000 gallons of pool water if algae is present.

    • 6). Circulate the pool water for 8 to 12 hours. Retest the level of free chlorine or bromine in the pool water. Add more neutralizer if there is any remaining free chlorine or bromine. The water must not register any free chlorine or bromine before proceeding.

    • 7). Add 1¼ lbs. of Baquacil Metal Control for every 2 ppm of metals present during a water test for each 10,000 gallons of water. Add Baquacil Metal Control to plaster pools even if there are no metals detected in the water test. Circulate the pool water for 8 to 12 hours.

    • 8). Add Baquacil Sanitizer and Algistat according to the dosage chart on the container label to achieve a level of 50 ppm in the pool water during testing.

    • 9). Add 5.25 oz. of Baquacil Algicide for each 10,000 gallons of water in the pool. Run filtration system continuously for 24 hours.

      Test regularly, at least weekly and follow the Baquacil Routine Maintenance System to maintain chemical balance in the pool.
