    Drain Pan

    • The refrigerator's drain pan is located behind the lower-front grill of the appliance, and catches water as it melts from the evaporator coils. Inspect the drain pan to determine if it's cracked or otherwise damaged, which will cause the pan to leak. Remove the screws securing the grille to the refrigerator, then remove the grille. The pan is located either in the center of the lower compartment, or on the left side in side-by-side models. Slide the pan straight out, being careful not to spill the water on the floor. Inspect the pan for damage and replace the pan, if necessary.

    Condenser Fan

    • The condenser fan is located in the lower compartment of the refrigerator. Along with cooling the compressor, the fan helps to evaporate the water contained in the drain pan, as it pulls air through the front grille and over the drain pan. If the condenser fan stops functioning and you are experiencing high levels of humidity, enough water could accumulate in the pan to cause it to overflow.

    Replace the Condenser Fan

    • If the condenser fan is not rotating you must replace the motor. Before disassembling the refrigerator, pull the cabinet away from the wall and then remove the power cord from the wall outlet. To access the fan, remove the rear lower access panel by removing the screws and then pulling it away from the cabinet. Next, disconnect the wire harness from the rear of the motor and then remove the mounting screws securing the motor in place. With the screws removed, the motor can be pulled out of the refrigerator. You must now pull the fan blade off of the old motor and install it on the new one. Once the fan blade is installed, reverse the steps to reinstall the motor.

    Water Supply Line

    • Check the water supply line, which connects the refrigerator's water inlet valve to the water supply line to ensure that it is not leaking. If it is leaking, tighten the connector or replace the water supply line. Water supply lines are available at your local hardware store. When connecting the new water supply line, be sure not to over-tighten the compression nut. Tighten the compression nut by hand on both the water inlet valve and the water supply valve. Once tightened by hand, tighten the nut one additional turn using an adjustable wrench.
