Which Ice Shape Do You Want?

If you are considering getting an ice machine, it is most likely that you are a restaurant or eatery owner and are looking to add some variety to your customers' drinks.
Ice comes in an assortment of shapes and types, so you would need to decide which ones you want before purchasing a machine.
So there are three main types of ice: 1.
Cube ice - This is the most common form of ice.
Most restaurants use this and yes, even I have cube ice at home.
So this isn't really anything to shout of design-wise but did you know that there are actually various shapes of cube ice too? Cube ice comes in full cubes, half cubes, gourmet, contoured ones and of course in the usually rectangular shape.
- Cube ice is good because they do not melt fast and fills a glass better, which translates into some savings as you do not have to use much drink to fill the glass and to the customers, they'd get a cooler drink.
- Use cube ice if you serve a lot of carbonated drinks or mixed Drinks or you are into ice dispensing and retailing.

Gourmet cube - Gourmet cubes usually have shapes that look like a small shot glass or a top hat.
These not only look good, they are also handy for filling up glasses and prevent clumping due to their size.
These ice also do not melt fast and you are able to scoop them easily as well.
- This type of ice is perfect for gourmet and mixed drinks as they look pretty and classy.
You can opt for this gourmet cubes if you intend it for use at bars, banquet services, upscale restaurants and waitress stations.

Contour cube - Contour cube ice are pillow shaped and are most suitable for food service applications.
They are clear as crystal and are patented and hard.
The unique design prevents splashing as liquid will flow over the shape easily and smoothly.
- This type of ice is most suitable for ice displays, mixed drinks, salad bars, carbonated drinks, ice retailing and ice dispensing.
Knowing the advantages and usage of each type of ice, you can then be able to make a decision on the type of ice machine that you need for your business.
Always have the customers in mind when you make your decision; think about what they want and expect.
Also, think about the image that you are trying to portray for your eatery.
