How to Get Rid of Anemia Using Home Remedies

    • 1). Combine ½-cup of beetroot root juice with ½-cup of apple juice. Stir in a spoon of honey (optional) to sweeten. Take two cups a day. Beetroot juice is rich in iron, potassium, calcium, protein and vitamins B1, B2, B6 and C.

    • 2). Use honey in home remedies for anemia. The darker the honey you use, the better. Honey is a potent blood enricher. Mash a ripe banana with a 1 tablespoon of honey and eat this once or twice a day. Or, stir a tablespoon of honey into a glass of orange or lemon juice and drink this early each morning. You can substitute apple cider vinegar for the lemon. Also try, combining an egg yolk with one tablespoonful of honey. Take a teaspoon every morning.

    • 3). Prepare an herbal infusion from nutrient-rich herbs that are beneficial in treating anemia, including dandelion, gentian, parsley, bilberry and yellow dock. Place a heaping teaspoonful of dried herb into a cup. Cover the tea with a cup of boiling water and let it steep for 15 to 20 minutes. Stir in a teaspoonful of honey and drink this twice a day.

    • 4). Take at least two cold water baths a day. This has been found to be beneficial as a home remedy for anemia. A sunbath is also beneficial for treating anemia, because sunlight stimulates the body's production of red blood cells.

    • 5). Increase your intake of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) to boost your body's absorption of iron. Eat two citrus fruits such as lemons and oranges as a rich source of vitamin C. Space out each serving of citrus at regular intervals rather than in one sitting.

    • 6). Include organ meats like liver and kidney in your diet, as they provide the most iron per serving of all known foods. Other iron-rich foods to eat in treating anemia include: eggs and dairy products (particularly milk, cheese and yogurt) and legumes and whole grains, as well as dark green leafy veggies such as spinach.

    • 7). Cook your food in iron pots. This is proven to significantly increase the iron content in your meals.

    • 8). Replace your pancake syrup with blackstrap molasses for waffles or pancakes. Blackstrap molasses has been used as a "blood builder" home remedy by folk healers. Every tablespoon of black molasses contains about 3.5 mg of iron.
