There are many facets to learning a new skill and every person learns in a different way.
When it comes to learning to play the guitar, many people choose to teach themselves, sometimes with the help of online guitar lessons and additional materials.
Whether you take private lessons or online lessons, one of the most important steps in learning to play the guitar is mastering the basics of notes and chords.
If you take the time to master the basics then you will be able to pick up more difficult techniques more quickly.
For some people, repetition is the fastest way to gain familiarity with finger positions.
Others, however, find repetition dull and boring and practice soon becomes a chore rather than a stepping stone in the learning process.
No matter which situation you are in, adding some easy guitar tabs to your practice routine can jump start your guitar skills and save you from boring practice sessions.
An easy guitar tab provides an alternative to repetitive practice during which you strike the same notes and chords over and over.
By playing melodies from easy guitar tabs you can apply the skills you have already acquired and improve them.
Playing a melody is infinitely more interesting than striking repeated notes and chords so, if you decide to add some guitar tabs to your routine, you will find yourself more actively engaged in your practice sessions and you will progress more quickly.
If you are unfamiliar with guitar tablature, it can seem quite confusing at first glance.
An easy guitar tab is set up in the form of six horizontal lines over which individual numbers are printed.
Each line represents a string on the guitar beginning with the lowest E, represented by the bottom line, to the high E, the top line.
A number printed on any given line indicates which fret should be pressed on that string to create a note.
For example, a number six printed on the fourth line would suggest that you should press down on the sixth fret on the fourth string.
Multiple numbers printed in vertical alignment indicates a chord - all of the notes shown should be played at once.
Over time you will become familiar with guitar tablature and, by adding some variety to your practice sessions and by applying what you have learned to simple songs and melodies you will find yourself well on your way to becoming a great guitarist.
