Believe it or not, even if you're just heading off to work or visiting a family relative out of state, survival kits should be kept within reach, whether in your car or inside your pocket. A survival kit can be very useful and handy during times of problems, emergencies, and mishaps that need the assistance of certain tools such as a pocket-sized knife, tweezers, and the like. This type of kit will also come in handy if you plan on going on a hiking trip or a long vacation with your family and friends, so to equip yourself with the right and useful tools before going on an adventure in the outdoors, here are the different types of survival kits:

1. If you're going on a hiking trip, will be riding a canoe, or are just going camping with your family, you can bring along with you a pocket survival kit. By the name itself, these kits can fit into pockets of bags or are strapped onto the person since he or she will be spending most of the time outdoors in case he or she gets lost or stranded. Materials included in these survival kits are duct tape, a compass, fire starter, cords, and threads.

2. A fanny survival kit is a type of kit designed for those who are stranded or lost for more than 3 days. This type of kit is often used by campers, bikers, and hikers, but it can also be kept inside the back of the car or at work in case a serious emergency arises. Materials included in this kit are food and water, medical supplies, tools to signal for help, and materials for warmth.

3. The third type of survival kit is the backpack survival kit, which is designed for people who need to survive on their own for more than 3 days. Obviously bigger and with more compartments than a fanny or pocket survival kit, the backpack contains food and water, medical supplies, light and signal tools, a tube tent, thermal blankets, a flashlight, and the rest.

4. Lastly, there is a survival kit made for people who need to survive on their own on water. This is the over water survival kit.
