Most of us are probably aware that the skin is the largest organ in our body. Also, as the natural covering of the body, it serves as our primary source of protection. Thus, one of our primary duties to our body is to take care of our skin. People were not born with similar skin types. For this reason, skin care regimens which may be proper for one person may not necessarily work for others. So as far as skin care regimens are concerned, you must be quite personal and responsible for your own. In other words, it means understanding the needs of your skin and following the right procedures. As far as this matter is concerned, there's nothing wrong with pampering yourself.

In most cases, intensive skin care procedures are not that essential to achieving great skin. Just the basic procedures are more than enough to keep normal skin from losing its vibrance. Keep in mind that when you care for it well enough, you also preserve your youthfulness in the process. Wrinkled and dry skin can add more years to your face than any other device. Still, there are people who don't care much for the basic procedures. Thus, they end up with a lot of problems which should never have been there to begin with. Now the first thing you should do when you want to properly care for your skin is to wash it thoroughly. You have to wash your body at least once a day even during the colder months. Also make sure you wash your face at least twice. Make sure you use a compatible soap or body wash with your skin type. For those with sensitive skin, this means you have to be more careful. Stick to unscented soaps with all-natural ingredients. If you get uncertain as to what products are suitable for your type, then consult with a dermatologist.

Secondly, always use sunscreen. Constant exposure to the sun can be deadly. Don't allow yourself to go out without the right protection. Try using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with 15 SPF. But in the hotter months, you will have to switch to one with higher SPF. Thirdly, say goodbye to unhealthy habits. This would include smoking, drinking, an unhealthy diet, and not getting enough rest. Note that one of the biggest stress builders is living an unhealthy lifestyle.
