    SMART

    • SMART Technologies, based in Calgary, Canada, created the SMART board for classroom use. The company also sells a variety of other classroom software and technology.

    Appearance

    • Upon first glance, the SMART board looks like a basic white board, or dry-erase board. The standard model ranges in active screen area size from 48 inches to 94 inches.

    Writing

    • The SMART board has touch-sensitive technology that allows you to write with your finger and erase with the palm of your hand. You can also select a variety of "ink" colors when writing.

    Projection

    • The SMART board connects to an liquid crystal display (LCD) projector to show images from a computer. Some models come with a built-in projector.

    Data Storage

    • The SMART board allows you to save the notes and other information you put into it for future use.
